While walking back to her car after helping a motorist in a roadside crash, Charlia was hit by a semi-trailer truck herself. This 28 year old mother of three, was in need of a prosthesis in order to walk again. Her Medicaid does not cover prosthetic devices. Without the assistance of organizations like HAF, Charlia would not have been able to afford to walk again and would have had to rely on crutches and/or a wheelchair for mobility.
