David lost his left leg above the knee in 2020 due to a rare cartilage cancer. As an avid marathon runner and snowboarder, this seemed like a death sentence to him.

After his recovery, he began to get back to work, but he yearned to do the things he loved most, running, biking, snowboarding, and swimming. He learned quickly that each of those activities often requires a different prosthesis and unfortunately his insurance company only provided the one that would allow him to walk again. For some, that’s enough, but for others, it relegates them to life on the sidelines.

HAF partnered with Next Step Prosthetics to provide David with a water leg. He is now participating in kayaking, paddle boarding, going to the beach, and surfing!
